1st April: Amidst colourful canopy, the entire students and staff of the Tibetan Children’s Village in Upper Dharamshala gathered on the main basketball ground to celebrate the graduation of the class XII Commerce. All the two hundred and ten students from class XII attended the ceremony for the last time in their school uniform. The students’ council made an excellent arrangement for the ceremony and celebration. We are very proud and happy to have Dr. Kunchok – the resident doctor from Delek Hospital as the key note speaker and the guest of honour. We have a very good system in place to invite one of the former students as chief guest during graduation function and this year we are very happy to have Dr. Kunchok. Based on his experience as a former student he shared his experience as a student of TCV and thereafter his escalation in his medical studies to become one of the most sought after doctors in Delek hospital. The graduating students were offered traditional Tibetan scarves by the school, students’ council and the staff welfare committee. As they entered the main ground they were received with volley of clapping sound and 50 years’ theme song. Both the principal and the headmistress gave them very touching and parting words as they exit from the school gate to go out for their further studies. We all pray for an excellent result. Special luncheon was arranged with all the staff and it was no doubt very emotional when their representative master Gompo thanked TCV and staff members for the contribution they made in shaping them into young ladies and gentlemen. As a token of their appreciation and gratitude they presented the head office with one Thangka painting of green Tara and the Village with a Thangka of Majushri.
