TCV Senior School organized a Parent- Teacher Meeting on Thursday, August 29 in Deckyi Tsering Hall for the parents and local guardians who live in the vicinity of Dharamsala. The main purpose of the meeting was to encourage parents’ involvement in their children’s education. As it is clearly proven from research and also from our past experiences that children do much better in school and grow up to be more successful in academic life when both parents and teachers are involved in child’s education.  The program began at 9 a.m. in the morning. Mr. Namdol Tashi, Principal gave a speech on the importance of proactive role of parents in children’s education in collaboration with the school in the face of the present changing societal scenario. The speech was stimulating and the talk ended with a big round of applause. Mrs. Nawang Lhamo, Headmistress informed the parents about some of the issues with regard to day-scholars in maintaining proper discipline in school. She also expressed thanks to them for taking time out of their busy schedules and attending the program. We received encouraging responses from parents on the day as there were about more than 200 parents and local guardians who attended the program. The invitation was extended to parents through delivery of invitation cards and the announcement was also made public through Tibet on-line. The parent–teacher conference that began at 10.30 a.m. lasted till the afternoon. All the subject teachers worked hard through the day talking things out to the parents about all-round development of the students focusing mainly on the academics. The meeting proved to be useful as both teachers and parents had the opportunity to learn about the challenges that they encounter in both homes and school and planned common strategies to bring out positive development in children’s overall development.
