Inter-School Declamation – 3rd October 2014
The celebration of Gandhi Jayanti was observed as “International Day of Non-Voilence” as declared by United Nations. This year is the 150th birth anniversary of the father of the nation – Mahatma Gandhi. The program was scheduled on the birthday of Gandhiji but with the visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama along with two Noble Laureates – Judy William and Shrin Edabi on the 2nd October, the program was postponed until 3rd October. We organized Inter-School Declamation focusing on “The power of non-violence”. The program was dedicated to express our gratitude to His Holiness the Dalai Lama and also to thank the government of India for being an excellent host for the Tibetans since 1959. We have four schools participating in the declamation and feel obliged to DAV and Gurukul for their active participation in spite of the fact that the day also coincided with Deshera celebration. We have two participants from each school and all of them spoke with perfect flow of the language focusing on the power of non-violence. The program began with traditional dance and ended with a group song by class XI befitting the day. We are indeed very grateful to our chief guest Mr. Desh Raj – DSP for being with us despite his very busy schedule. Mementos and certificate were presented to all the participants.
