2015- March Report
ORIENTATION PROGRAM: FEBRUARY28 & MARCH 1
All staffs (teaching and non teaching) were gathered in Deckyi Tsering Hall at 10 am after two months vacation. The school Director Mr.Ngodup Wangdu welcomed the staffs and introduced the chief guest , His honorable Samdong Rinpoche. Rinpoche focused on the importance of having pure motivation on any work we do and importance of preserving our language. He also recommended the audience to read His Holiness’s books “Ethics of New Millennium” and “Beyond Religion” also “ Swaraj” written by Mahatma Gandi. The session was over by 12:30 pm with vote of thanks from the school principal, Mr Namdol Tashi.
Afternoon Session stared at 2pm. The school director Mr. Ngodup Wangdu shared the MDC Meeting minutes and also the possible major event coming up this year. The School principal Mr. Namdol Tashi shared the EDC meeting minutes to all the staffs. The session ended at 4 p.m.
SECOND DAY ORIENTATION
The first Section meeting was held on the second day of orientation- March 1, 2015. All the teaching staffs were gathered in their respective section. Mrs. Nawang Lhamo has chaired the senior section meeting. The meeting went well the productive resolution.
SCHOOL OPENING CEREMONY: MARCH 2,
All the students above class 8 and staffs gathered in Deckyi Tsering Hall and Observed One minute silent to show our solitary for the self immolators followed by school song. The school Director Mr. Ngodup Wangdue gave welcomed the chief guest of the program, Mr penpa Tsering, the Speaker of CTA. Thanka and statues were awarded to the staffs who have served TCV School for 40 years, 30 years and 25 years. It was honored to find many staffs getting the awards. We were moved by their dedication and sincerity. The new committee members for the year 2015 were introduced with scarf offering. The chief guest gave a stimulating speech focusing on the code of conduct that a student should possess and follow.
PARENTS’ DAY: MARCH 5,
The birthday of His Holiness ‘s mother Gyalyum Chemo is celebrated as parents ‘Day. All the staff and students above class 9 gathered in Dickey Tsering hall at 3: pm. We are happy to have one of our senior most staff Mr. lhakshey Tenpa as our chief guest. He spoke on the importance of shouldering our responsibilities with sincerity and with renewed sense of commitment for betterment of school. The principal Mr. Namdol Tashi read out the Kashag statement on the occasion of parent’s day. The program lasted for 2 hours.
TIBETAN UPRISING DAY: MARCH 10
The 56th Tibetan National Uprising day was observed at Tsug-la-khang, the main temple in Dharamsala. Thousands of Tibetans led by the exile Tibetan leadership took part in the function. Mr. penpa Tsering, Speaker of the Tibetan parliament in- Exile and Sikong Lobsang Sangay addressed the gathering and urged the international community to strengthen their support for the non-violent struggle of Tibetans to achieve genuine autonomy. A total of 523 students from Class IX, X and XII of Upper TCV Senior Section joined the official commemorations. The students along with public as well as foreign friends and supporters also participated in the protest march from Tsuglakhang to Kacheri which was organized by the non- Tibetan governmental organizations. Presence of a senior German parliamentarian, Ms.Claudia Roth, gave the day a significant political moment.
- TIBETAN WOMEN’S UPRISING DAY: MARCH 12
The Tibetan Women’s Associations commemorated the 56th Tibetan women’s Uprising day on March 12, 2015 at the martyrs’ Pillar in honour of the sacrifices made by Tibetan women in Tibet. Hundreds of Tibetan women along with supporters took part in the commemoration. The function was followed by a protest march raising slogans for a free Tibet and demanding an end to china’s repressive policies in Tibet. A total of 235 girls from Class IX, X and XII participated in the commemoration of the day
WORKSHOP ON RETHINKING APPROACHES TO TEACHERS’ PROFESSIONAL DVELOPMENT PLAN: MARCH 13,
Mr. Kalsang Wangdue, Professional Development officer cum Social Science and Curriculum resources person of TCV shared his observation and recommendation on last year’s professional development plan at Deckyi Tsering Hall from 3:20 pm to 5:30 pm. All the teaching staffs of TCV upper as well as TCV Day school Mcleod were present in this workshop. He talked about learning, sharing and growing together by continuing the Teachers’ professional Development. The school heads decided to continue TPD this year with more intense.
TIBETAN FILM SHOW“DRIMEY KUNDEN” MARCH 15,
A premiere of a Tibetan Film based on an opera script “DRIMEY KHUNDEN” was shown to the senior section students on March 15 and other sections on March 16 to bring cultural awareness among the students. The Film provided insightful knowledge of generous nature.
SPRING FETE: MARCH 21,
The school held a spring fete on the school basket ground on Saturday, March 21. The School Games Committee organized the fete to raise fund for organizing various sports and cultural activities for the students through out the year. There was a big Mickey Mouse ride to the young children too. The staff and students extended their service in running the stalls. Everybody had an enjoyable and eventful day.
