He began his presentation by asking the participants about how the present education system was performing. After collecting few responses, he presented a data depicting what kind of graduates the present system had produced. He stressed on the importance of Teacher’s classroom teaching, which would decide what kind of graduates would come out. He also laid emphasis on deciding long term goal such as the four main missions of TCV or Basic Education Policy (BEP) goals and short term content related goal. He spent quite sometime talking about the Assessment part (Assessment For and Assessment Of) by taking examples from Bloom’s Taxonomy; he gave individual exercises on making questions based on Bloom’s taxonomy. In between the presentation, he gave the participants opportunity to discuss and share their personal experiences. Student Engagement: After the tea break, the next session was on “Student Engagement”, another important topic for the teachers to develop. Then he let the teachers discuss and share some of the strategies for improving students’ engagement. And then, he explained some of the strategies or methods to improve students’ engagement like sense of belongingness, sense of competence, sense of autonomy and the principles of meaningfulness. Later, he spoke in details the above strategies one by one. Finally, he requested the teachers to work on developing the above four strategies in order to improve students’ engagement.
