Inter-School SEE Learning Discourse: (Recognizing Common Humanity)

23rd October, 2023: The school hosted ‘Inter-School SEE Learning Discourse: Recognizing Common Humanity’ event at 7PM at Hermann Gameiner auditorium.

The program began at 7 PM. Geshe Lhakdor la, a distinguished Tibetan scholar and the Director of the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, graced the program as the chief guest. The guest of honor was Mrs. Tenzin Pema la, the chief SEE Learning Program coordinator at CTA. Mr. Sonam Sichoe la, the President of TCV and the two General Secretaries, Mr. Choenyi Dhundup la and Mrs. Lobsang Tsomo la, the school heads of the TCV branches, twenty years of service staff members, and ex-students were among the guests at the event. Students from the senior section and staff members attended this important event.

The student moderators, Master Tenzin Yarphel of IX D, and Miss Tenzin Nyidon of X D extended a warm welcome to the guests and the audience. Participating schools included TCV Gopalpur, TCV Suja, TCV Chauntra, TCV Upper, Mewoen Tsuglag Petoen school, and Tong-len. The aim of the event was to create awareness among students  the SEE Learning concepts early on in their school years and share SEE Learning enhancement activities of each school.

The program started with the screening of a short video compilation of SEE Learning activities and student feedback from each school. The participants then spoke on the given topic utilizing advanced IT tools in the time limit of 6-7 minutes.

The first speaker was Miss Tenzin Jangchoe (class X) from Mewoen Tsuglag Petoen school, who spoke about self-regulation. She simplified the concept of self-regulation with simple examples and explained how it can be applied in our current scenario. Self-regulation, she says is about having control over one’s direction and regulating one’s own mind and actions.

The second speaker was Master Sangay Norbu (class X) from TCV Suja, who spoke about embracing and recognizing common humanity. He elaborated on what common humanity means and how recognizing it allows us to be more understanding and less judgmental based on race, culture, gender, and class, transcending religion and national boundaries.

The third speaker was Miss Tenzin Kelsang (class X) from TCV Upper, who spoke on appreciating interdependence. She provided a detailed interpretation of interdependence with examples and stressed the importance of understanding how everything relies on one another to achieve goals and needs. She emphasized the need to believe that all things are interconnected to accomplish something.

The fourth speaker was Miss Tenzin Yootan (class X) from TCV Chauntra, who discussed interpersonal awareness. She explained what interpersonal awareness is and how practicing it helps individuals relate better to others. It involves having a deep knowledge of one’s own thoughts and feelings while showing true understanding of oneself and others.

The fifth speaker was Master Tezin Jorden (class X) from TCV Gopalpur, who spoke about compassion – a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune. He shared his experience of learning SEE Learning and explained how practicing compassion keeps him happier and more content.

The final speaker was Miss Sanjana Taktyan (class X) from Tong-Len school. She illustrated the concept of building resilience, the ability to adapt to difficult situations. She explained how SEE Learning helps children in her area, particularly in slums, to face challenges with resilience and view poverty and disasters from multiple perspectives.

The chief guest honored the participants with certificates and mementos. Geshe la spoke a few words about the event, commending the school for arranging such an event to create awareness about SEE Learning programs within the school and appreciated the teachers who initiated the event.
